High Rating Continues for
Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point
|
Badin Lake, NC-- The Old North
State Club's golf course again has been voted the number two
course in North Carolina by members of the North Carolina
Magazine golf panel. The results were announced in
the publication's March 2002 issue.
The voting marked the fourth
consecutive year that the ONSC course was rated second only
to the nationally acclaimed Pinehurst No. 2, the site of this
year's U.S. Open Championship. The Old North State Club ranked
as the number one private course in North Carolina.
"We are very pleased that
our course continues to be honored by this outstanding panel,"
said Chip Conner, Uwharrie Point's Project Manager. "These
are the folks who know North Carolina courses the best, and
our high rating is an honor that we cherish."
The highly regarded panel is
made up of some 125 top players, writers, golf professionals
and business executives in North Carolina.
The Tom Fazio-designed ONSC ranked
fifth in the inaugural poll in 1995 but moved to the second
spot the following year and has been there ever since.
