Community is not just a term used in the Uwharrie Point
Community and throughout the Uwharrie Lakes region,
but a way of life. Neighbors take pride in lending a
helping hand when needed, while friendly conversation seems
to be a local pastime. Generations of families in this region happily
welcome new neighbors to their home, as if they had known
them their entire lives.
The residents of Uwharrie Point have embraced and become
an integral part of the local community, whether it is
participating as a member of the local Volunteer Fire Department,
volunteering for charitable work, Communities in Schools,
or many other programs, or establishing small businesses
that both serve and employ natives and visitors.

Continuing Education opportunities abound in the surrounding
counties and nearby metropolitan areas. The metropolitan areas,
accessible with an easy drive, are home to some of the leading
research universities anywhere --- with North Carolina State University,
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Duke University
in the triangle, Wake Forest University, North Carolina A&T,
and UNC Greensboro in the triad , and UNC Charlotte only about
45 miles away in northeast Charlotte. Closer by, Pfeiffer University
is only about 15 minutes away and Catawba College is a little further
in Salisbury. And there are some excellent Community Colleges in each
of the adjacent counties - Stanly, Montgomery, Davidson, Randolph, and Rowan.
