Uwharrie Point is located in the middle of an area in
Central North Carolina known as The UWHARRIE LAKES REGION
or NORTH CAROLINA'S CENTRAL PARK. Also sometimes referred
to as the YADKIN PEE DEE LAKES region, it includes seven counties
adjacent to the Yadkin River and several
man-made lakes created as the winding river makes its way through
the Uwharrie Mountains. Just under the growing urban crescent that
spans from Charlotte, through the piedmont Triad to Raleigh-Durham,
the region is characterized by a chain of lakes, open farmland, ancient
mountains, forests, and winding scenic lanes. Residents of the area
enjoy a quality of life that offers the best of both worlds: rural and
small town charm and easy access to the larger urban centers.
